Chanel Yee

 

 

Chanel is from Honolulu, Hawaiʻi and recently graduated from the Bachelors of Urban Forestry program with a minor in Landscape and Recreation Planning from UBC. She is currently the CALP Oak Bay Coolkit Intern where she supports the District of Oak Bay Parks Department in mobilizing local climate action. She is also a research assistant in the Urban Forest Ecosystems Lab helping deliver the Street Tree Futures research project that explores misalignment between city-wide ecosystem goals and on the ground street tree management. Chanel recently completed a research fellowship with Kaulunani, the State of Hawaiʻi’s Urban and Community Forestry Program, where she explored her research topic of wildfire risk and urban expansion on the Island of Hawaiʻi. She is interested in what constitutes effective community engagement and incorporating community values in climate-resilient urban planning.
