Fernanda obtained her BSc in Environmental Communications in 2005 from Universidad San Francisco de Quito in Ecuador and an MSc in Forestry (focused on small-scale forestry) in 2011 from the University of British Columbia. She is currently undertaking her PhD studies at UBC’s Faculty of Forestry and her research interests include sustainability communications, public opinion, message framing and ecological economics. Her doctoral research project will explore ways in which the concepts and proposals of ecological economics, such as the need for a sustainable scale for the human economy, can be better communicated to the broader public. She aims to do this through mental model analyses and message framing experiments.
