My PhD research explores narratives about food sovereignty and security in a small, remote community in western Nunavut (Canada), and how these can inform discourses at territorial, national and international levels. Some aspects of my work are featured here: (@39:25): http://foodlineradio.org/shows/farmers-markets-in-2016/
My MSc research focused on plant community changes in response to simulated climate warming at a high arctic polar oasis, on east-central Ellesmere Island (Nunavut, Canada). I have a BSc in Environmental Biology and Technology, and a diploma as an Environmental Protection Technician. My MSc research has been published in the journal of Global Change Biology and The Canadian Geographer; I have also served as a reviewer for Global Change Biology.

In 2007, I founded Klady English Editing (www.kladyenglishediting.com) – a resource for International authors and researchers seeking assistance to communicate and publish their academic work in English. I have approximately 20 years’ experience designing, conducting and reporting on ecological and environmental research and monitoring in both field and lab settings.  I am familiar with many issues connected to food sovereignty and security in remote, island and indigenous communities, as well as more generally Arctic ecology, environmental management, and land use planning.

In addition to research, I enjoy exploring permaculture gardening, social and environmental justice issues, birding, painting and personal growth and development (body-mind psychotherapy, family constellations after Bert Hellinger), which is connected to exploring/developing the theme of ‘community’ and ‘living in relation’ in my work and life.
